Mr. J. P. Shukla takes over as Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited
Mr. Jagdish Prasad Shukla an officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (1970 joining batch) has taken over as the first Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) on 2nd November, 2004. Mr. Shukla a B.E. (Civil) from University of Roorkee has immense experience on the Indian Railways and abroad. In his career of about 33 years on the Indian Railways, he has held prestigious positions which include Principal Chief Engineer (Northern Railway). He has held a foreign assignment through M/s RITES Ltd. for about 4 years (1982 – 1985) wherein he has handled international projects. He has also held the charge of Chief Engineer (Construction) Jammu – Udhampur New Rail Line Project wherein he took new initiatives for workable designs of superstructures of the tall bridges with cantilever method of construction. While working as Chief Track Engineer/North Eastern Railways, he played significant role in setting up first 100% indigenous Flash-Butt welding Plant for long welded rails saving foreign exchange of about Rs.8 crores in 1993. He has also worked as Director, Research and Track Standards, RDSO, contributing significantly. He is a life member/fellow of prestigious institutions like Institution of Engineers, Chartered Engineers (India) etc. and has held many posts of Government and non-Government organizations like President of All India Class I Railway Officer’s federation, President Northern Railway Officer’s Association, President Northern Railway Sports Association, President Northern Railway Eco-Club, President Officer’s Club Sardar Patel Marg, Chairman Heritage Committee, State Chief Commissioner NR Bharat Scouts and Guides and Vice President Cultural Association. He has visited large number of countries in Europe (England, Germany, France, Austria, Holland, Switzerland) and Africa. He was sent by Railways for Senior Management programme at Manchester Business School. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. setup as Special Purpose Vehicle to undertake project development, mobilization of financial resources and implement Railway projects pertaining to strengthening of Golden Quadrilateral and Port Connectivity will achieve its targets under his able guidance.
